Charles “Chuck” Henry Ankenbauer, 84, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on July 26, 2020. A native of Nashville, Tennessee, he was born on July 14, 1936 to Martin Leo Ankenbauer and Hattie Mai Ankenbauer. He was one of 11 children and grew up on a farm in Tennessee.

Chuck was a true family man who exemplified Southern hospitality. He was always there for a chat and something to eat. He never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face. He had a generous heart and would give the shirt off his back if needed. He loved the Lord and loved to share about Him with others. His hobbies included working with electronics, cooking, gardening, watching old John Wayne movies, listening to old Gospel music and Bible study. He lived a life of service to others. He retired as a Navy Chief in 1977 and went on to retire from Civil Service on the Navy base at NAS Jax in 1997. In addition to serving his country, he devoted his life to taking care of his family and spreading God’s word to anyone who would listen to him.

He is survived by his wife Teresa, his children Walter, Claudia, Alice, Henry and Von; Daughters-in-law Mary and Noemi; his grandchildren Amy, Lauren, James and Charles; his great grandchild Beau and his sisters Dorothy, Peggy and Frances.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 7 of his siblings, Janelle, Jr., Bobby, John Thomas, Catsy, Betty and Martha as well as his grandson Anthony Benedict.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 1st starting at 5 pm. Funeral service will be on Sunday, August 2nd at 10:00 am followed by Committal service at 11:00 am. All of this will take place at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. John’s Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, Florida 32225.
