
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, at Oaklawn Funeral Home in Jacksonville, FL. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Jacksonville, FL.
Mr. Pitts was born February 24, 1926 to Charlie McGee Pitts and Beulah E. Pitts in Tifton Georgia. He moved to Jacksonville where he was the owner and operator of the Diamond Fence Company until his retirement in 1989. He had made his home in Deepstep, Georgia for the past four years. Mr. Pitts was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1944 until 1946. He was preceded in death by son-in-law, Ted Benedix, grandson, Jessy Pitts, sisters Wynelle Newell and Ruby Nell Harper, and a brother Paul Pitts.
Survivors include his wife June Latrelle Pitts of Chula, Georgia, sons and daughters, Larry Pitts (Lona) of Green Cove Springs, FL, Gwen Benedix of Mandarin, FL, Stanley Pitts of Jacksonville, FL, Jerry Pitts (Marcia) of Jacksonville, FL, Denise Cope (Donnie) of Green Cove Springs, FL and Tony Pitts (Theresa) of Deepstep, GA, brother and sisters: Gereline Coburn, Raydean Pitts, James Pitts, Beverly Cohorst and Linda Smith, grandchildren; Larry Wm Pitts (Miryung), Wesley Pitts, Clay Benedix, Jennifer DePratter (Jonah), Mari Pitts, Gamble Pitts, Donnie Cope, Jr.(Jaime), Nicole Hanley (Matt) and Shannon Shaner (Adam), great grandchildren, Alexander, Cami, Elyssa, Brendan, Bryce, Dawson and Olivia.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 4, from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel in Jacksonville.
