Nelson was born March 7, 1955 in Barranquilla Colombia, to Carlos Vargas and Edna Sheets. Nelson married and raised his two children in Jacksonville, FL. He was resident of Jacksonville since he was 3 years old and a Jacksonville Jaguar Inaugural season ticket holder. Nelson was passionate about his family, cooking, computers and making everyone around him laugh, as only he could. His charm, humor, and love will forever be an inspiration for anyone who was fortunate enough to have made his acquaintance and even more so for those lucky enough to know him.
Nelson will be lovingly remembered by his wife and love of his life for 36 years, Marina Vargas, his children and center of his world, Alan Vargas and Nicole Vargas and Rose Maldonado. Nelson will be sadly missed by his mother, Edna Sheets; aunt, Susana Sheets; three brothers, Clark, Allan and Kenneth Vargas. Nelson will be also be fondly remembered, by his extended family, dear friends and neighbors. He is preceded in death by his father, Carlos Vargas.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 30, 2018 in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. The Memorial Service will be held at 5:30 p.m. with Deacon Mike Elison as Officiant.
