Randell was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on June 28, 1944 to R. O. Porter and Letty LaRue Williams. He joined the U. S. Marine Corps on July 8, 1963 and was honorably discharged on May 30, 1969. After leaving the military, he moved to Orlando, Florida where he met his beautiful bride and wife of 48 years, Carolyn Porter. They were married in Winter Garden, Florida in 1970 and moved to Pensacola, Florida soon after. While starting his new family and working part-time, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree at University of West Florida in 1975. Thereafter, he worked as a systems analysist until his retirement in 2010. Randell was an extremely creative individual who enjoyed painting and photography. His joy for life, love of family, inquisitive nature, and jovial personality will always be remembered.
Randell is survived by his wife, Carolyn; sons, Nathan and Paul; granddaughters, Tinsley, Brinkley, and Samantha Porter and his extended family and friends. Randell was preceded in death by his parents; his younger sister, Teresa Porter and younger brother, James Porter, whom he loved dearly.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, October 30 at 11 a.m. in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin, 11801 San Jose Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32223. Graveside Service will follow at 1 p.m. in Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32218.
