Ronald Lee Shillcutt was born in Springfield, Missouri on July 16th, 1937, and died on July 26th, 2021, in Jacksonville, Florida, at the age of 84. He was a loving husband and father, and a strong Christian who put his faith in Jesus.
Colonel Shillcutt served in the U.S. Air Force for 28 years, as a pilot, engineer, commander, program manager, and director, including time in Korea and Vietnam. He then retired and took a position with Boeing in Seattle for 10 years as a Technical Fellow. He loved flying, and joined the aero clubs at most of the Air Force bases where he served, flying his family on excursions in small planes whenever possible.
His family, faith, and church were extremely important to him, and he volunteered with churches at every location he lived. He loved working with the Northwest Baptist Disaster Relief ministry in Washington State, and the Texas Baptist Men Disaster Relief group in Houston, TX. After retirement from Boeing, he and his wife spent two years in Hungary as missionaries at a Christian school, teaching English and Bible.
His surviving family members include his wife of 59 years, Doris Jean Shillcutt, his twin brother, Donald Shillcutt, and his sister, Patsy Pennel, and his two children Mark Shillcutt of Issaquah, WA and Kimberly Tyree (spouse Warren), and his three grandchildren Rebekah, Reanna, and Ryan, of Jacksonville, FL.
A memorial service will be held at 6pm on August 12th at the Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home at 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32223. Inurnment at the Jacksonville National Cemetery will follow the next day, with full military honors.
