Willie Ronald Rabon (Ron), 80, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2020, surrounded by his family. Ron was born on July 5, 1940, in Conway, SC, to Wilbur and Isla Rabon.

Ron left his farming family early in life to move to Pittsburgh and begin his dental technician’s apprenticeship. It was there that he met his wife of 56 years, Ann. After they married, they had 3 children, and then they moved to Jacksonville, FL, where Ron became co-owner of a dental lab. Eventually, Ron and Ann had 2 more children, and Ron started his own business, Rabon Dental Lab. His reputation as a hard-working, incredibly talented technician led to the great success of his lab.

Ron was completely dedicated to his family, and he was a hard-working, generous provider who made his children’s education an absolute priority. He enjoyed reading the paper every day and had a keen interest in current events, sports, and the stock market. He was a good neighbor, and he never hesitated to lend a helping hand when it was needed. He was truly a self-made successful man, rooted in his unwavering principles, but his humble beginnings on the farm were always a part of him. After retiring, he purchased a farm and enjoyed gardening, fishing, and taking care of his babies, the cows. Ron’s other great joy in life was being the best Papa to his grandchildren and watching them grow up.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents; his brother Ed; and his son Ronnie. He is survived by his wife Ann; sister Diann; daughters Kelly Seaton (Terry), Rhonda Rose (Tom), Michelle Kunovich, and Susan McLeod; daughter-in-law Ashley; grandchildren Ashley (Joe), Bryan, Andrew, Chris, Katie, Mike, Max, Sam, Julia, Olivia, and AnnaMarie; and two great grandchildren, Alaina and Brycen.

Visitation will be held from 6-8pm with sharing about Ron starting at 7pm on Thursday, November 19th, at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. The funeral service will begin at 10:30am on Friday, November 20th, at Hardage-Giddens, with private interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ron’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

I admired my brother-in-law, Ron, for the way he cared for his family, for his kindness, and for his strong work ethic. Ron continued to work hard in his retirement as he fulfilled his dream of raising cattle. Ron will be missed by all of us who knew and loved him.

Ron was our closest neighbor and dear friend. Ron kept his farm in a pristine manner caring for his cattle and donkey. He will be sorely missed every time I look out my front window and not seeing him tending to his farm chores. Prayers for Ann and their family.
