In loving Memory
Susie D.M. Emerson, of Jensen Beach, Florida, born Dorothy Ann McKenzie June 18, 1933, passed away after a long illness July 13, 2019.
She was a registered nurse, graduation class of 1955 from the School of Nursing, University of Rochester. Her nursing career spanned four decades and her devotion to that calling spread over 5 states - California, Washington, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Michigan. Whilst in Florida she was an educator at a local Community College, passionate about alternative healing methods.
When she wasn’t nursing she masterfully created and taught stained glass, découpage, macramé, knitting, crochet, all forms of needlepoint, notably bargello.
Susie was an extremely bright, competent, private, creative, fun, funny, inspiring, loving friend, feminist, mother, and animal enthusiast. She was a remarkable member of each community she lived in.
Susie was a globe trotter. When at home, she was always surrounded by her animals, most often adopted: cats, dogs, stud bull, her beloved bird Alberto. She was curious and pedagogic about all forms of nature, and art. At the end of her widowed life she lived alone until moving to Jensen Dunes.
She is survived by her three daughters, 6 grandchildren and step grandchildren, 5 step great grandchildren, and one great great step-grandson.
Nature is her passing ceremony.
