July 27, 1929 – May 21, 2018
Addie Frances Mathews, age 88, of Riverdale, GA, went home to rest in the arms of the Lord on Monday May 21, 2018 after a long battle with illness.
Born in 1929, she was one of seven children of Carley D. & Lucy Anna (Price) Chapman of Ozark, AL.
She became the proud wife of Thomas T. Mathews, a career Army Master Sergeant, traveling with him from Alabama to Texas and then onto Germany. During her time as an Army wife, she became mother to four sons. All of whom, she was very proud.
Always a devoted follower of Christ, she was a member of Jonesboro First Baptist and faithful member of her Sunday School Class. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.
She is survived by four sons, Tom, Ron (Jody), Joe (Patricia), and David Mathews; grandchildren, Adam (Rebekah) Mathews, Cathy Spencer, Wesley (Karen) Mathews, and Monique Mathews; and great grandchildren, AJ Spencer, Summer Parkison, Austin Mathews, Haley Mathews and Kaleb Mathews.
The family will be receiving visitors at Tara Garden Chapel – 681 North Avenue – Jonesboro, GA 30236 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Thursday May 24, 2018.
Funeral services will be Friday May 25, 2018 at 12:00 PM in the chapel of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro – 142 College Street – Jonesboro GA 30236.
There will be a brief Graveside Service immediately following the funeral at College Park Cemetery – 3600 North Adams Street - College Park, GA 30337.
