David James Plourde was called home to our Lord on April 21, Born on March 18 1934 in Iron River Michigan to Baptist and Elsie Plourde. David joined the army in 1958 traveling to Germany and Italy upon his return he worked for Potlatch Corporation for 32 years retiring in 1993. David to all who knew him was a sweet, kind, funny and loving individual who touched the lives of all who knew him. David loved to travel and spent most winters in Arizona with his daughter and son in law. He loved taking his great granddaughter Lauren to the park to feed the ducks followed by breakfast dates. Places he visited that he cherished the most were Mexico, Victoria Canada, Charleston SC, Belize, the Bahamas and Key West. He especially loved visiting his son and daughter in law in Raleigh NC. David loved history and was the one every family member wanted on their trivia team. When visiting sights on the tours he usually knew more than the guides.
David was a talented cartoonist and painter his other hobbies included reading, going to the theatre and in his final year boxing and mall walking. He loved spending time with his family and never missed an event. David taught by example the value of hard work, integrity, courage, good judgement and the love of family. He instilled in his children the power of a smile.
David spent his final year in Florida where he experienced his first hurricane adventure, hanging out with his niece Angie and her children and visiting his favorite cousins but no matter how fabulous Florida was to him he missed Idaho and his sisters.
David is survived by his son; Jeff (Maura) Plourde, Raleigh NC, daughter; Lisa (Eddie) McCoy, Palm beach gardens FL, step-daughter; Kaleen (Brandon) Fletcher, brother; Ray Plourde and sister-in-law; Janet (Debbie and Donna), sister; Dee Presnell (Blake, Craig and Ralaine ) of Lewiston, ID, sister; Chris Craig (Angie) and brother-in-law Jim, step-granddaughter; Jaime McCoy of Phoenix AZ, great grandchild Lauren McCoy, Dominic Calderon and Mia Calderon. His aunt; Eva Macknack, many cherished nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elsie and Baptist Plourde, son James, brother in law Ralph Presnell.
A memorial service will be held at Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 North Monroe on Sat. May 12 at 11:00 am. Inurnment to follow at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens on May 14, 2018 at 12:00 pm
