Doris Jean Herring, 91, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away June 4, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospice House. Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Friday, June 7, 2019 at Stony Point Christian Church, 149 South 78th St., Kansas City, KS, with visitation time from 10-11:00am preceding the service. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stony Point Christian Church.

Doris was born May 14, 1928 in Kansas City, Kansas to John Allen and Lottie Miller. She graduated from Turner High School and attended secretarial classes and learned shorthand at Kansas City School of Commerce. Doris was joined in marriage to Archie Herring in 1948. She was a longtime and active member of Stony Point Christian Church. Doris loved shopping and decorating her home. She loved watching Lawrence Welk and listening to music. Doris loved dancing at Millerettes, especially the Jitterbug.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Archie; her son, William Herring; and her sister, Ruth Crane.

Doris is survived by her son Steve Herring and his wife, Tara; her daughter-in-law, Nancy Herring; her grandson, Zachary Herring and his wife Cara and their children, Zane, Holden, Olivia, and Emrey; her granddaughter, Abigail Herring and her daughters Caroline and Kylie Estell; as well as other relatives and friends.
