

She graduated from Argentine High School in 1951. She was a member of the high school marching band. She remained loyal to her alma mater attending annual class reunions until recently. She continued her education in evening college business courses.
Ethel was married to George W. Price in 1952. They remained in the KCK area together. They were devoted to one another and their children and grandchildren.
She worked in the administration office at Bethany Medical Center in KCK. She began working at (Thompson-Hayward) Harcros Chemical Group in 1967 retiring in 1995.
Ethel was a member of the Southside Business and Professional Women’s Club of KCK and actively supported young women in business.
She was also a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in KCK, serving as Eucharistic Minister and in RCIA. She belonged to St. Ann Circle.
Ethel was married to Norman A. Schmalz, Sr for eleven years and they moved to Basehor, KS 2006. Together they were also active at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. They enjoyed traveling together and spending time with their many children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, George W. Price; second husband, Norman A. Schmalz; parents, Thomas and Dessie (Houston) Dane; two brothers, Virgil Howser and Paul Dane; and two sisters, Imogene Henry and Margaret Stark.
Survivors include her son, William Price and his wife, Nichole of Lee’s Summit, MO; two daughters, Cathy Moore and her husband, George of Basehor, KS and Jean Price of Basehor, KS; four grandsons, Jeremy Hart, Billy Price, Michael Price and Alex Reid; one granddaughter, Josie Reid; one great grandson, Andrew Hart; and one great granddaughter, Camilla Price.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, July 31, 2017 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1086 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas. Interment will be immediately following at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will be from 2-4 PM, Sunday, July 30, 2017, with a eulogy and rosary to be prayed at 3:00 PM at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church or Catholic Community Hospice.
