LaVaughn “Bonnie” Boatwright, 96, of Tonganoxie, passed away January 11, 2019 at home surrounded by family. Private family services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider the family or Vitas Hospice for memorial contributions.
Bonnie was born August 12, 1922 in Riverside, California to George and Belle Biddle. She graduated from high school in San Jose, California and married the love of her life, Philip Boatwright when she was 17. They moved all over the country with her husband’s job, places like Illinois, Colorado Springs, and Westlake Village, California; they moved to Kansas City in 2004. Bonnie made sure to join a Baptist church wherever they moved, lately, she attended Victory Baptist in Tonganoxie. She was a very caring person and always had a shoulder or advice for anyone she met throughout the years. Bonnie’s main focus was taking care of her family, especially when she could cook something delicious.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 72 years, Philip Boatwright; her daughter, Virginia “Jenny” Billie Boatwright; and fifteen brothers and sisters.
Bonnie leaves a legacy of two sons, Dan Boatwright (Martha) of KCK, Phil Boatwright of Tonganoxie; ten grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
