Viola Mae Peoples-Wilson, 89, of Tonganoxie, passed away January 12, 2019 at home. Funeral services will be 2:00pm, Monday, January 21, 2019 at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS, with visitation from 1:00-2:00pm preceding the service. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Viola was born November 11, 1929 in McCleary, Washington to Warren and Inez Fairchild. She attended Lincoln High in Tacoma, Washington and moved to Kansas City in 1952. Viola worked as a nurse’s aide for a short time, but when her children were born, stayed home to take care of her family. She was married to Kenneth Delaney, to William Peoples for over fifty years, and after his passing, married Jesse Wilson; they shared seven years of marriage before his death in 2013. Viola was a member of Calvary Chapel in KCK and when she wasn’t involved in church activities, she enjoyed spending time at home watching her favorite movies and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, William Peoples, and Jesse Wilson; her sister, Dorothy Trice; and her brother, Warren Wayne Fairchild.
Viola is survived by her children, Cherie’ Tyson (Allen) of Globe, AZ, Kenneth Delaney (Dixie) of Ft. Defiance, AZ, James Peoples (Deborah) of Belton, MO, and Katheryn Douglas (Ron) of Tonganoxie, KS; her step-children, Peggy Crumley of KCK, and Aaron Wilson of KCK; as well as fourteen grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren and one on the way, and six great great-grandchildren and two on the way.
