Joe will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife Lila and his parents Claud and Cora (nee Lipe) Jack.
He was born in Springfield, MO, on July 6, 1930. In his early years, Joe lived in Buffalo, MO, before moving to the Kansas City area where he attended Southwest High School. After their marriage, Joe and Lila moved to Raytown, MO. Joe was a member of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council 3.
Joe was passionate about airplanes – from piloting to visiting local airports, watching planes fly in and out and talking to pilots about their shared love of flight. He became interested in radio-controlled airplanes later in his life and was an avid modeler of vintage aircraft. He enjoyed eating out at his favorite restaurants. Meals with Joe would often last hours, sharing stories with anyone who would lend an ear, and even socializing with restaurant employees (who greatly enjoyed his generous tipping) and guests. His keen interest in the weather would always come up in conversations with family, particularly those living outside of the Raytown area. He loved his dogs, grand-dogs and grand-cats. But Joe’s greatest passion was his family – always asking about each person by name and making sure to say “I love you” before hanging up the phone.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held graveside at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 31, 2018, at Floral Hills Cemetery, 7000 Blue Ridge Boulevard, Kansas City, MO.
The family is requesting that memorial donations in memory of Joe be made to the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City at: https://app.etapestry.com/hosted/HumaneSocietyofGreaterKans/OnlineDonation.html
