Daniel Donovan, a retired Air Force Chief Master Sergeant, died December 17.2013 at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. He was 85. The cause was complications from pneumonia and cancer.
Daniel was married to Reba Browner Donovan on January 7, 1955; they were married 58 years.
The Class President of the graduating class of 1946 at St. Basil High School in Dushore, PA, he entered the United States Army at the end of World War II and retired from the United States Air Force at Richards Gebaur AFB in 1975. He was an aircraft maintenance chief who served during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War conflicts with total service in excess of 30 years.
He was an active community volunteer and served in leadership positions at Ruskin Heights Lutheran Church for many years. He took great pleasure in attending the activities of his grandchildren, and his friends at the Foxwood Retirement community in Raymore will attest to his prowess on the pool table.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Reba Donovan of Raymore, MO; four children, Daniel Donovan (Gail) of Overland Park, KS., Dr. David Donovan of Kansas City, MO, Col. Derek Donovan (Kathryn) USMC (Retired) of Alexandria, VA, and Dawn Donovan Felchle (Mitch) of Driggs, ID; five grandchildren, 22 nieces and nephews, and a brother, Bill Donovan of Franklin, TN.
Internment at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, December 21, at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO. and a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m., Raymore Christian Church, 500 Peace Drive, Raymore, MO.
