John was born on April 30, 1924 in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from East High School and earned his bachelor's degree with a major in Accounting from the University of Missouri. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and Korea. He was a radioman and was honorably discharged.
He married Alice Paul Malick in September 6th, 1957 and they have celebrated 61 years of marriage. John worked as an account for the Social Security Office retiring in 1984.
He preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Alice Clenny, daughter, Michelle Robertson, son, David Clenny and wife, Carolyn, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
John was an avid reader, and bad joke teller, he never heard a dad joke he didn't like. He persevered through the great depression and went on to become a hard worker and strong provider for his wife and children. He took great pride in his beautiful Leawood home that he worked so hard for. He was a foodie before a foodie was a thing. He enjoyed game shows such as wheel of fortune, and sitcoms from the 70s and 80s.
