Kathleen Marie (Gavin) Hepker, 90 of Prairie Village, Kansas passed away March 17th at Olathe Hospice House. Kay was born November 21, 1929 in Cascade Iowa to Irvin and Catherine Gavin. She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School and studied nursing at Mount Mercy. She married the love of her life, Delmar Clyde Hepker, on June 13, 1953. Kay and Del moved to Chicago and after marriage and started a family. Work brought the couple to the Kansas City area and they made their home in Prairie Village in 1963. Kay was involved with many charities over the years. Her favorite was being a member of the B.P.O.E. Does of Elks Lodge 26 in Kansas City, MO. Kay loved to travel and often said that traveling was the best education.
She is preceded in death by her husband Delmar and son John. She leaves behind son James (Vera) of Claremont, CA and daughters, Patricia Chrisman(Edward) of Edgerton, KS, Mary Sedlacek (James) of Tulsa, OK, Kathleen Hepker of Overland Park, KS and Nancy Hrenchir(Robert) of Paola, KS. Grandchildren: Amy Best, Megan Marlow, Matt Chrisman, Alexander Sedlacek, Gavin Sedlacek, Eric Sedlacek, Veronica Hepker, Scott Hepker, Emily Hrenchir, Erin Hrenchir, Kathleen Hrenchir and Mary Hrenchir. Great grandchildren: Macy, Mackenzie and Madison Marlow, Olivia and Octavia Best, Blaine and Kain Chrisman, and Bethany Hrenchir.
A Mass of Catholic burial occurred Saturday, March 21st at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Prairie Village, KS. and burial at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Lenexa, KS. Donations may be made to the charity of choice.
