Lyndell I. Smith (Smitty), 83, passed away November 16, 2018. He is survived by his wife Maxine L. Smith, of the home. A daughter Susan Hughes (Roger), a son James Smith (Linda), a son Stephen Smith (Mary Beth), a daughter Cheryl Manson (Mark), a son William Workman, a daughter Michelle Arnsperger, a sister Gay Rogers, 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Irvin Smith and his mother Grace Smith.
Lyndell was known for his outgoing and upbeat personality, he never knew a stranger. He was always telling a story or a joke. He was a huge fan of the Royals and Chiefs and watched every single game while offering his take and advice on what they should be doing. He made his profession driving gas trucks and was very proud of this hard-working profession. He drove for many companies, but retired from Amoco.
He loved bowling, softball, and golf in his free time. He and Maxine spent many years travelling around in their RV visiting family, friends, and taking in the beauty of many National Parks. From truck driving in his profession to driving around in the RV, he had a better knowledge of this country than most.
Lyndell also had such a love for animals, in particular dogs. He could often be seen cuddling in his rocking chair with one of his dogs and talking puppy talk to them.
Lyndell was such a special man to his family and will be greatly missed. A memorial service is planned for November 21, 2018 at Floral Hills Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 1pm with service beginning at 2pm. Burial will follow in procession to White Chapel Funeral Home in Gladstone Mo. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association or Wayside Waifs.
