Mary L. Kopp

Mary Lucille Kopp née Casey, 89, Liberty, MO, was fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Sunday, January 13, 2013, at home. Mary was born April 17, 1923 in St. Louis, MO. She retired from Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Kansas City. Mary is survived by her children, John (Susan) Kopp, Liberty; Kathleen (Michael) Wagner, Kansas City; Mary Eileen (Steven) Davis, St. Louis; Patrick (fiance Lisa Giloti) Kopp, Parkville; Agnes (Kim) Caselman, Kansas City; Peggy (Larry) Cole, Hamilton, MO; Carol (Stanley) Savedra, Garland, TX; Rose (Chuck) Bibb, Prairie Village; daughter-in-law Jane Kopp, Independence; 32 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, one great-great grandson, brother, Joseph Richard Marlatt, Magnolia, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Harold G. Kopp, Sr.; parents, John C. Casey and Marie Marlatt (née Mounts); son, Harold G. Kopp, Jr.; grandsons Samuel Richard Cole; Jacob Thomas Brown; great grandchildren Andrew, Hunter and Madeline Ellis; brother John C. Casey, Jr.; sisters, Jacqueline Kopp; Patricia Rackovan; Rita Rappe; and Jeanne Kilmartin. Our mom loved seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren, her face beaming with delight every time one of them visited her. Mom was a devout Catholic, faithful in her role as a deacon's wife, serving as lector at daily Mass and Rosary leader at Our Lady of Mercy Country Home in Liberty, where she lived for 10 years. The family wishes to thank all the staff at OLOMCH, especially in the assisted living area, for their loving care and friendship. Mom loved all of you very much, evident in her bright smile whenever you entered her room.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 19, 10:00 a.m. at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 4737 N. Cleveland Ave., Kansas City, MO. The Rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. Friday, January 18, at McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 NE Vivion Rd. The family will receive guests from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Private inurnment will be held on Mom's birthday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Mary's memory to Our Lady of Mercy Country Home, 2115 Maturana Dr., Liberty, MO 64068.
