Max O. LaJoie, 88, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away December 13, 2011. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 17, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery South. Max was born May 28, 1923 near Stanberry, Missouri, son of Marion and Amiee (Berry) LaJoie. He attended a rural one-room school through 8th grade and Stanberry High School He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He served three years during World War II in Fleet Air Wing 6 and on USS Bunker Hill. Max attended Iowa State in Ames, Iowa, Naval Air Tech School in Chicago, and Lockheed in Burbank. On October 1, 1947 he married Dorothy M. Tullis, to that union three sons were born. He worked for American Airline Air Cargo Conversions and Hudson Seed Company. In 1950 he joined Carpenter’s Local 61 and remained a member after retirement. He trained seven young men over the years in the trade. He was a member of Blue Ridge Baptist Temple for 45 years serving as a teller. During their 64 years of marriage they built seven homes. He is survived by his sons Randall (Jean Lynn), Roger (Kay) and Rod (Jan); grandsons Jason (Michele), Joel (Liz), Taylor, and Jesse; three great-grandsons Ben, Max and Jack; great-granddaughter Emma Michele; and stepsister Louise Gillette of St. Joseph.
