Robert L. "Bob" Wheeler was born in Mayview MO in Lafayette County.
He grew up on farms across Missouri as his parents liked to move around a lot. Bob grew up as the youngest of three children. His parents Vernon Wheeler and Maud (Willis) Wheeler preceded him in death.
Bob eventually settled in Kansas City, KS and graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1956. He married and had two surviving children, Pam Wheeler of Kansas City KS and Barb Yardley of Blue Springs MO. Bob has 4 grandchildren: Michael Martinez of Florida, Joseph (Amanda) Martinez of Lee's Summit MO, Mikaela Martinez of Blue Springs MO, and Dominic (Jasmaree) of Gales Ferry Connecticut …..and 8 great grandchildren.
Bob started off at Cook's Paint and later when on to work at KU Med for over 39 years, retiring on July 1, 2002. He started out in plumbing and worked his way to Associate Director of Facilities Operation. After retirement he worked at Lowe's Home Improvement until 2013. He enjoyed golfing and spending time outdoors at his home on the lake with his life companion Debbie Wright who also preceded him in death.
