Charles (Charlie) Gonzales was born March 19, 1938, in Houston, Texas to the parents Charles V. Gonzales, Sr. and Doris Gonzales. He graduated from Jeff Davis High School on May 31, 1957. After graduating, Charlie enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He received an honorable discharge and returned to Houston. During his early adulthood, Charlie accepted Jesus Christ and attended the local Baptist Church.
While working at Camron Iron Works, Charlie studied and honed his skills as an ironworker. He was employed by the Union Pump Company (Textron). At the end of his 27-year career, he retired from Textron and took on a new position at the Barstool Warehouse in Houston where he used his knowledge, assisting his co-workers in providing quality service to Warehouse customers.
Charlie lived life with an attitude of gratitude and thanksgiving. On October 4, 1979, Charlie married Jerri Gonzales. Charlie and Jerri enjoyed life together and were constant companions. Charlie loved to bowl, and he and Jerri spent their spare time rolling strikes and spares with their bowling league friends.
Charlie faced death with the same fortitude and strength that he conquered life’s challenges. On May 23, 2018, without fanfare or burden to his loved ones, Charlie, answered God’s call and transitioned quickly and quietly.
Charlie was preceded in death by his father and mother, his brother, David, and sister-in-law, Carolyn Karavais. Jerri, the love of his life and wife of 48 years, mourns his passing and prays for strength to face her future days without him. Also left to cherish his memory are his four children, Debbie, Charlie III, William “Billy” (Kathy), and Ginger (Clifford); two sisters, Gloria and Linda; brother-in-Law, Tommy Blake; sisters-in-Law, Linda and Jerry Jean; grandchildren, Arist, Stephanie, Stacie, Ernie, and Brandon; special friends, Curt and Cheryl, Dick, Ron, George, and Carlos; and a host of grandchildren, relatives, and friends.
My Love,
I want to let you know how much you really meant to me and that I’ll love you always. I will be with you again one day. I could not have had a better husband. You took good care of me all of our marriage. I miss you my love, now take your rest, and know that you are loved.
-Jerri-
