J.P. Asensio

November 18, 1958July 7, 2019

J. P. Asensio, 60 of Richmond, Texas passed away Sunday, July 7, 2019 peacefully in his sleep at the home he built.

J. P. was born November 18, 1958 and lived in New Jersey where he attended Union Hill High School and as a consummate team player, he led his school to notable football wins. After graduating high school, J. P. attended Kean University where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Technology and Design. Shortly after, J. P. moved to Texas and found a passion for building and began his career in home construction. However, while he spent all his years working for two builders, with his last employer, he found a family working for Taylor Morrison.

J. P. leaves behind his wife of 23 years, his son, and daughter who will greatly miss him and will always be grateful for the years they spent together as well as his Taylor Morrison family who have supported him through his most challenging journey. J. P. passionately dedicated his spare time to all his children’s academic and extracurricular endeavors and family vacations . The Asensio family would like to give a special thanks to the Taylor Morrison Corporation and all of the team members who took time to call, text, email, and fill the pages of a personal journal providing him comforting and loving words, to his nurse, Ginny Holmes who took great care of him during his final days of life, and while the names are too many, no words can ever express our gratitude to Amy Rino, Division President of Taylor Morrison and Darling Homes, Jim Black, Vice President of Construction, and Sandy Smith, friend and coworker for their unwavering support of J. P. and our family.

The visitation and funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2019 in the chapel of Katy Funeral Home, 23350 Kingsland Blvd. Katy, TX 77494.

Followed by a graveside service at Morton Cemetery, 401 N 2nd Street, Richmond, TX 77469 in old historic Richmond where many of Stephen F. Austin’s Old Three Hundred are buried.

We ask that no flowers be sent as many of you have generously contributed to his children’s college and future donations are discretionary.
