Nora was born in Waurika, Oklahoma on December 17, 1930 to Florence Etta Clark Creamer and Floyd Overton Creamer. Nora earned her GED at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1960. She also earned her speedwriting "shorthand" certificate later that year. Nora grew up in a family with six siblings who were devoted to each other and worked as farmers. Nora met Charles Dallas Black while he was visiting her brother, Denman in Corpus Christi. Their whirlwind courtship began in 1949 where they enjoyed time spent on Padre Island and walking North Beach enjoying the cool breeze of the Coastal Bend. They married May 31, 1950 in Corpus Christi and began building a family.
Nora's abilities to make a home and care for her family were one of her many gifts. Her creativity came in many ways from gardening, sewing, painting and cooking. Nora and Charles were blessed with two daughters that they raised in the Annaville area of Corpus Christi. They were all members of Tuloso-Midway Baptist Church and Nora was well versed in scriptures and studied the Bible for many years. She was the best spiritual leader and shared her faith often.
After her daughters graduated and began their separate lives, Nora and Charles moved to Ingleside on the Bay in 1975. There they lived on the water and enjoyed fishing, sailing, and shell collecting. Nora was elected to serve on the City Council of Ingleside on the Bay. Meeting with neighbors and collaborating solutions for the city kept her involved in the community she loved to serve.
Nora also volunteered at Christus Spohn Hospital Shoreline for two years and enjoyed working in the Flower/Gift Shop and the Cardiac unit patient desk.
Nora is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Black, her parents, Floyd and Florence Creamer, her brothers, Roy, Coy, and Denman Creamer, her sister Carmen Berry and her brother-in-law Doyle Berry, and her sister, Edna Creamer.
