She was born in New Rochelle, NY on November 4, 1926, the daughter of Edward and Evelyn (Carron) Hanley. She grew up in Keene and was a 1944 graduate of Keene High School.
On January 11, 1946 she married the love of her life, Earl G. Helie. After thirty-six years of marriage, the couple renewed their vows on August 18, 1982.
Eleanor worked at the MPB Corporation in Keene for 23 years. She was also a member of the Keene VFW Post #799 Women’s Auxiliary.
There was no greater joy in her life then being a Mom and “Gee Gee”. She loved spending time with her family. Providing a loving and welcoming home was something that she took great pride in. Eleanor also enjoyed being out in nature. She and her family camped every year at the campground in Richmond, NH.
She is survived by her daughters, Karen Riesner of Claremont, NH and Cheryl Helie of Winchester; her son, Wayne Helie of Keene; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Gracie Burnell of Enfield, CT; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was predeceased by her husband; her step-son, David Michael Helie; her brother, Thomas Hanley; her brother-in-law, Henry Burnell; and her daughter-in-law, Marie Faucher-Helie.
A celebration of Eleanor’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 from 2:00 to 3:00pm in the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court St. Keene.
