February 6, 1923 – April 14, 2018
Lena Pappas, 95, lifelong resident of Keene, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Cheshire Medical Center following a brief illness.
She was born on February 6, 1923 in Keene, the daughter of Thomas and Maria (Kyriazis) Pappas. She was educated locally and graduated from Keene High School.
Lena had been employed by Peerless Insurance for 37 years. She retired early to care for her elderly mother.
Lena was a devoted woman both to her faith and to her family. She was a lifelong communicant of St. George Greek Orthodox Church where she had been a member of the Women’s Society. Family always came first and she very much enjoyed being surrounded by her nieces, nephews, and their children. For 95 years, Lena had been able to enjoy her life independently.
Lena will be dearly missed by her brother: Stephen Pappas and his wife Joan of Swanzey Center; nephews: Thomas Pappas and his wife Candace of Peabody, MA, Stephen Pappas of Keene, John Pappas of Keene, Michael Pappas and his wife Eunice of Troy, Thomas Pappas and his wife Tracy of Nashua; niece: Maria Dube and her husband Steve of Nashua; great nieces and nephews: Nicholas, Morgan, Brandon, Stavros, Theo, John, Tom, Joseph, and Mary.
She is predeceased by her parents and brother: John Pappas.
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, April 17 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 70 West Street, Keene, NH. A funeral service will be held at St. George on Wednesday, April 18 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the family lot at Woodland Cemetery in Keene.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made in Lena Pappas’ name to St. George Greek Orthodox Church, PO Box 392, Keene, NH 03431.
