On June 5, 2018 at 9:40 PM, Roger Harold Mason went to the celestial mountain-top to be with Alice, his bride of 66 years at the age of 89 years old. So, it is with pleasure that we announce to the whole world that Roger and Alice Mason are now back together, among many loving family members and friends. Many believe that the last days in someone’s life are often the most meaningful and I have got to tell you he filled his last days with a complete love of family.
Roger grew up in Halifax Vermont, the son of Osbourne and Ruth Mason.
Roger will be greatly missed by his sister Shirley Leary of Brattleboro VT; sister in-law Minnie Mason of Hinsdale NH; son Douglas Mason of St. Albans Bay VT; daughter Lorraine Patria of Winter Garden FL; daughter Valerie Alther of Keene NH; grandchildren Lenora, Christine, Jennifer, Carla, Alishia and Destinee; eleven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. His brother Stanley Mason of Hinsdale NH; his sister Charlotte Young of Brattleboro VT; and grandson Travis Mason of Winchester NH, predeceased him.
Roger did an exemplary job of taking care of his wife Alice through several years of her suffering with Alzheimer’s. While Alzheimer’s disease is a terrible disease for the patient, it is also extremely difficult for family and friends that suffer the loss their loved one daily for years. Roger stayed with his wife until the very end. The amount of love that he had for his wife and family are what kept him going and taking care of her until the last breath of her life.
Roger will be put to rest at the Evergreen Cemetery in Winchester, New Hampshire, where he will be by Alice’s side, along with other family members, including his grandson Travis. May he live peacefully with his family and loved ones in heaven.
We love you Dad … Rest now. Love Doug, Lorraine and Val.
