Stella A. Turant 87, of Sunrise Village Road, Winchester, NH, died Friday, January 25, 2013 at the Cheshire Medical Center / Dartmouth Hitchcock, Keene, with her family at her side, following a brief illness.
She was born in Ashuelot, NH, August 10, 1925, the daughter of Adam and Bernice (Poredo) Popielski. She was a 1943 graduate of Thayer High School in Winchester.
A resident of Ashuelot for most of her life, she moved to Winchester eight years ago.
Mrs. Turant worked for over 20 years with Paper Service of Ashuelot. She later cared for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a responsibility she enjoyed with great pride. She always thought of others first, inviting friends into her home, and was always willing to cook or bake for many, offering wonderful dishes as a comfort to all. She was known for her wonderful cooking skills, especially her spaghetti and cream puffs. She also enjoyed shopping.
She was a longtime parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church in Winchester.
She is survived by her children, Patricia A. Byrne of Winchester, Thomas Z. Turant and his wife, Marilyn, of Winchester, Michael A. Turant and his wife, Candy, of Hinsdale, NH; six grandchildren, Cathy A. Davis and her husband Joseph Davis, Sr., Bill Bryne, III, Matthew Turant and his wife, Jodi, Katie Napierkoski and her husband, Chad, Jill Gorton and her husband, John, Jake Turant; ten great-grandchildren, Joey Davis, Kyle Davis, Willy Byrne, Colby Byrne, Joshua Turant, Alex Turant, Troy Napierkoski, Luke Napierkoski, Ansley Gorton, Hollis Gorton, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of forty years, Zygmunt Turant on January 16, 1983; a grandson, Michael T. Byrne on October 12, 2011; and a sister died in infancy.
A mass of Christian burial in St. Stanislaus Church, and burial in the Evergreen Cemetery, Winchester, will be held in the spring. Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, January 27, 2013 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene.
