Mary helped us care for our kids when they were very young. At one point I had to take one of our toddler kids to the hospital and as I was frantically getting ready, Mary stopped me and hugged me. It was what she knew I needed. I calmed down and focused and I will never forget that hug. It is one of my dearest memories of her. This picture is of Mary and the "toddlers" all grown up.

I have known Mary for over 50 years. She was one of my very best friends and I loved her immensely. She was unusally funny in a very odd way. I lived with her in my grandmother's attic on Ashland Avenue and we shared a bedroom and a bathroom for ten years or more. It was great! Mary was extremely intelligent, right untill the end. She made collages and painted. We went to many art exhibits together and she taught me so much. I am so very sad that Mary is gone, but I am so blessed to have been part of her life. She is in a better place and free from any pain. I love you, Mary Rose, and I will see you again someday; I am sure of that.

John, Anthony, and all of Mary Rose's dear ones,
I knew Mary Rose in high school at Mount Saint Joseph Academy. I moved from WNY not very long after. Please know that she is in the thoughts and memories of many of her former classmates. I unexpectedly missed a fine reunion about 20 years ago, when I
had hoped to see her, and really looked forward to seeing her next year at a milestone reunion for us....
I am so sorry she experienced illness. Bless you all for helping her through.
It will be an honor to make a donation in her memory. She was brilliant, honest, talented, cheerful, and fun.

To my Zupa. My sign shop buddy at The big W. I learned so much from you and shared so many great memories as we created together and worked side by side. I looked up to you as you shared your knowledge of art, the world and your life. I loved the Christmas get togethers with our crew and our lunch dates. I will always have a special place in my heart for a friend that was down to earth, told it like it was and was truly one of a kind. Love you lots and will always think of you with a smile and giggle thinking of our Family Guy impressions.

I’ll miss my friend who I had such stimulating talks with , dinner gatherings and hiking in Zoar Valley. Her laughter , her spiritual thoughts, art and counter culture knowledge made her a multidimensional person who enriched my life for knowing her. I’ll miss you, Mary Zupa!

Mary was a great person and dear friend.
She had many words of wisdom in the fourteen years I’ve known her and I will miss the times we were able to get together. My condolences and sympathy go out to her family.

The poet e.e.cummings wrote: “i carry your heart with me (i carry it in my heart)...” Mary, I will carry our 46-year friendship in my heart, and I’ll think back to when I first met you and Patrice at Buffalo State. I’ll treasure forever the epic talks we had, late into the night, on Ashland Avenue. I’ll remember how much fun we had at Rehoboth Beach and in Buffalo. You made my wedding special as my maid of honor. I loved your sense of humor and your keen intellect. You could quote literature, cite a musical reference with ease, and take incredible photographs. I’ll miss you so much, Mary, but I’m glad you’re free from pain now. Someday, I’ll see you on the other side.

Mary Rose May You Rest in Peace and hope to see you again in the next world.. You were a good friend to me during our days at Nativity. I'll never forget you, the sleepovers, having my first fire roasted potato at your house, lol. Martians and little monsters and science fiction movies. My heartfelt condolences to her family...and very close friends. May God comfort your hearts and know, she is in peace and never forgotten.
