I graduated from North Cobb High School over a decade ago. Most of my experiences there are now a faded memory but I'll always remember the positive impact that Frau Sedlacek had on my school life.  She will forever remain in my thoughts.

I thought about the words to say, and realizing now no amount will ever truly show you how amazing she was. Mrs. Sedlacek was the kind of woman that no matter what you were going through, she gave you a reason to smile. I had the honor and privilege of being her mentor in the fall of 2016. I remember the time I asked her if she needed anything and she gave me 8 separate sheets of paper, with 65 copies each. I spent the whole class period doing it happily. When I was finally able to give it to her, her reaction was beautiful. She never expected me to do it, but truth is.. she could’ve given me 10,000 copies and I would’ve done it. See it was never about the task at hand, it was about doing anything for her. I’ll always love you Mrs. Sedlacek. Thank you for blessing me with great memories I’ll never forget. And to any family member reading this, know she made more of an impact than you’ll ever realize. Heaven got an angel 🕊

  You were always my favorite memory of all my teachers looking back on high school! I will never forget you and how you made learning German so easy and fun! I loved all your stories and your genuine nature! You were a rare gem amongst all the teachers I had ever met! You truly were inspiring and sincere. Thank you for your ever caring nature. Gabi's sense of humor was just wonderful. She gave me the most sweet and warm welcome to North Cobb High School.  I will always remember her last words when we visited her at the hospital "Be thankful for everything and never forget even the most little things in life that we forget to be grateful for" . Thank you Gabi for a beautiful friendship in such a short time at North Cobb. May the Lord receive you with all his love! I just can't  imagine the funny words you will say to my Lord when you get there! Enjoy my friend!

Ever since the first day of German class with Frau Sedlacek, I’ve been inspired to pursue my language and culture studies for the German heritage. It would be her classroom that I’d look forward to every single day. A true mentor to me and many others. Being able to confide in her truly helped me through troubles that I would not have been able to without guidance. I’ll always look back at those memories inspired to be strong. Through the toughest times she would always come into class with a smile on her face. She will be dearly missed

I will always remember her loving smile. She was always there for you, encouraging you to always do your best. Lasting impression that’s stayed with me for 20 years and probably always will. Rest in heaven beautiful lady.  We love you “ but not in a romantic way” always. 

Mrs.Sedlacek is the sweetest lady I have ever known she was so kind to everyone and when others were around we could feel nothing but love. She always was so positive and remained so strong. I have known Mrs.Sedlacek for four years she was a teacher, friend, and truly my inspiration. She was always there for me when I needed advice or someone to talk to.She taught me to be kind to others no matter what because she was. We will never forget your love, what you taught us, and who you are Mrs.Sedlacek we Love You❤️❤️❤️

I can't even begin to describe the impact you had on my life. You were so much more than just a teacher. You're a motivator, someone to inspire, a joke-ster and the sweetest person I have in any of my memories. 
Mrs. Sed, you were the first person to ever believe in me. You were the first person to show me that I could be so much more than I ever thought. You saw something special in each and every one of your students, which is so so important. 
If I didn't have you, I have no idea who I'd be right now. You made me believe in myself. You always made sure I knew how proud of me you were, and how much you cared for me.

I'll see you in the next life, until then, I'll keep you in my heart. 

She was the brightest light in highschool. She never once let any student feel unwanted. School became a joy just to see her enthusiasm in the classroom. She taught me to pursue my dreams at any cost regardless of the work required that anything was possible to those who wish to create their own possibilities. It's directly because of her that I am studying in Bamberg, Germany. There's not a week that has gone by that I haven't given thanks to her for the path I am on. Her personality always brought the best out of everyone. And her wisdom will remain with me always. She is, to this day, the greatest impact of any professor or teacher that I have ever had the absolute privilege to be influenced by. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her. My deepest condolences. We love you too Frau Sedlacek. 

Words simply cannot describe how wonderful Mrs. Sedlacek was. She positively impacted the lives of so many, especially the lives of her students. She was such a caring, thoughtful, selfless, patient, and loving person. Mrs. Sedlacek was by far my most favorite teacher. I will miss her very much. Her family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I first met Gabi when I was 16 and transferred to the school she taught at and to her classroom.  When she found out that her nephew had been a previous teacher of mine in math, Mr. Huff, she told me to call her Aunt Gabi. On graduation day, she told me to call her Gabi.  I did. When I moved away and when I moved back, I had always kept in touch with her throughout the years.  When my little one was born, I was so excited to show her the little life I helped create. We talked about everyday life and old memories, but whenever we talked, we always talked out our loved ones and family. Her family meant so much to her, blood related or not. She kept telling me that I needed to come out to her new house that was built.  I wish I had found the time to take her up on her offer. Gabi was the best of teachers, a wonderful confidant, and a dear friend. I will forever cherish the memories I have and she will forever be missed.

Gabrielle Sedlacek was the definition of strong. She was a Role Model and an Idol for anyone who interacted with her. She meant so much to me as both a teacher and a friend. Every single day of her class was exciting and memorable. She made learning something as difficult as another language a joy. Without a doubt she has been one of the most influential people in my life. It was because of her I went down the path in life I did. Gabi was a wonderful caring individual who always thought of others and looked to put a smile on our faces. She would play pranks on students who fell asleep in class (a spray bottle or stuffed animal placed between their arms), and I'll never forget till the end of my days: "die Ecke ; The corner". I'm devastated that we've lost her and am going to miss her with everything I have.

Mrs. Sedlacek was the woman that truly redefined what a teacher-student relationship ought to be for me. She genuinely loved her students as if they were her own children. She was so patient with me everytime I would give her a hard time being a clown during class. She used to tell me “you know Kenny, if i had a daughter that was around your age I would introduce you two”. She saw such potential and talent in me when I didn’t see it in myself. She is by far the most amazing, caring, devoted and wonderful teacher I have ever had the honor of knowing and her impact on my life will last a lifetime.

You had more of an impact on me than you will ever know, and I wish I could have expressed this while you were still around. I always admired you as a person and as  a teacher. You continually brightened my days during high school- I cannot believe you're gone. Thank you for inspiring me in more ways than one!

Gone, but never forgotten couldn't be a truer statement. 

Mrs. Sedlacek is one of the most influential women I have met. She truly took teaching students to another level making sure that we understood we had a shoulder to cry on if need be. There were many times that I didn't know where else to turn and there she was with open arms. She helped me to understand the person that I am and develop who I am today. I can easily say that she was the best teacher I have had and only helped my love of Germany expand.  I am sending my love and condolences to your family in this time of need. Rest peacefully.

I took Mrs. Sedlacek every year in high school and grew so close to her. Even after I graduated in 2015, I still came to visit her.  She was by far my favorite teacher at North Cobb. In my last semester of high school my grandma became very ill with cancer and Mrs. Sedlacek was there for me in ways no one else was. She was more like a second mother to me, than a teacher. She was the most loving, caring and inspirational person I have ever met. It truly breaks my heart to hear that she has passed away but I forever grateful that she was once a huge part of my life. North Cobb will never be the same without her.

Your gentelness, warmth and kidness is eternal. Spending time with special needs students during your few available minutes is a special memory. Every time I saw you in the halls you smiled, no matter what. Your kind heart glowed like geld. I remember some words you taught the kids in the class I was in. The world had one less shinning soul but heaven has another angel. You were such a loving person, in a non romantic way. 


May God's loving kindness and comfort help  you and your family during this time of sorrow (2 Corinthians 1:3,4).

Mrs. Sedlacek was one of my favorite teachers if not my favorite teacher at north Cobb, so much so that I took her class almost every semester while I attended high school. 
She and I had a close relationship (me being German) we would often talk about the coolest spots in Germany, what our favorite restaurants were and how much we missed it there. Mrs. Sedlacek went out of her way to help her students and personal tutored me on her own time for ghp even though she was going through treatment. She will always have a legacy here solely because she was a shining light in the dimly lit halls of north Cobb.

While I may not have been in your classes, you were one of my favorite teachers in the whole school. You always made a point to remember everyone that you could, and every interaction left me smiling. You sparked my interest in learning German, even though I was on a Spanish track, and I still take every opportunity to teach my friends and coworkers German words, the way you taught me in passing. 

I’m going to miss you greatly, Frau Sedlacek.

My dearest Frau Sedlacek,

I wish there were enough words to describe your caring soul. A few minutes after your passing, I dreamt of you. A few hours before, I felt a tightness in my chest, as if something were about to happen to someone I was close to. I don’t know if it was your way of communicating with me, trying to tell me that you’re no longer suffering & that you’re reunited with your son, Patrick.  
You are simply the most genuine, most amazing, lovable, encouraging, and down-to-earth woman to ever cross planet earth. I already miss you so much. You will be in my heart until the day I die my angel-faced, angel-hearted educator. You have impacted the lives of so many students, including myself. I love you infinitely, in a non-romantic way of course.

I am from the North Cobb Class of 2016 and currently attending the University of Georgia. 

Although I didn't take German during high school, I had only positive interactions with Mrs. Sedlacek when I encountered her in the foreign language hallway during my time at North Cobb High School. 

Additionally, I only heard positive stories from fellow students who took German that she was an amazingly warm and friendly teacher that truly cared for her students and that truly cared for the subject of all things Deutschland. I'm so saddened to hear of her passing and I can only hope that these positive memories/condolences from fellow students can soften this tremendous blow.

Im very saddened to hear of your passing. You were the best teacher I ever had. You were always there no matter what. Your door was always open and you always knew my mood when I entered your classroom. You kept me going when I didn't want to at times. You made learning German one of the easiest languages to learn. I know you touched everyone's lives that was around you. You were a very special woman that had the biggest heart of anyone I knew. I have always bragged to my sons about you. May your soul rest for eternity with our Father in Heaven. I will truly miss you.

To say my heart is absolutely crushed is an understatement! I was overcome by a coldness I cannot explain when I was made aware of your passing. You will always be remembered as the most loving, caring, and encouraging teacher a student could ever have. I will always treasure our special bond we had, and I’ll remember all the beautiful memories of you. The world has truly truly lost a magnificent soul, but you will always continue to shine a light for anyone and everyone who has crossed paths with you. We will always love you (in a non romantic way of course ;)  ) and we will forever hold you dearly in our hearts. Thank you for everything that you were to each and everyone of us. Dear Frau Sedlacek,

You were the nicest person I ever got to meet. High school wasn’t easy and being in your class made my day and kept me going through a lot of difficult periods I had. I remember you putting blankets on me and other students when we would fall asleep, you made things easier to learn and made us excited to learn which I don’t think many teachers can manage. I am so grateful that I got to have you in my life and that I got to be your student. You will always be my favourite teacher and your class has an abundance of wonderful memories.

during my year of being an exchange student to NCHS your door was always open. You had the toughness of a German and the open heart of an American. It was a great honor to be one of your students. It is so sad we didn‘t get the chance to see each other again. Can‘t see Heidelberg without thinking of you. You surely leave a huge gap in the lifes of those who had the honor to get to know you.

It was truly an honor to have met such an amazing person. You were the greatest teacher I ever met in my life, always caring about students as people, and letting them know that they are loved (non-romantically) of course. Many memories come to mind when I think of your class, like when I would say we (referring to Borussia Dortmund) won, and you would pop back with a “oh you did? You are on the team?” Or when you’d let all the boys know you are twice the woman we were. Your class was the highlight of every day. Thank you for everything you did for not only me, but for every student you ever came into contact with. We love you.

There were many days that Mrs. Sedlacek was there for me. Although she was not my teacher officially I can’t help but think of her as family. I visited her everyday and enjoyed every minuet of it. Her wisdom and kindness is something to be  cherished and remembered.

Being a former student I looked up to you as a mentor as your greatness for love and compassion are stories that obviously many other students shared with you as well. Like others you were much like a second mother to me during hardships of growing within NCHS. Jokes, stories, and lessons from early 2000's that are still repeated with many of us to this day. Your classes made those years memorable, something I didn't believe at the time was possible. You will be dearly missed.

I’m saddened to hear about the loss of you in this world. I became a teacher because of you and did my teacher externahip watching you as I wanted to learn from the best! You helped so many students during rough times, myself included and I could never thank you enough. Future students will never know how wonderful of an impact you can make on lives. Every time I heard Josh Groben I think of you & always will. Thank you for having such a large impact on my life! I’m forever grateful. God Bless

Being in your German class was a life changing gift. Small ripples in life that turn into big soul defining waves. Especially for my husband and I who met in your class. We have a four year old daughter now, a precious little gift that if we had not been allowed to be ourselves and meet each other she might never have existed.  
Just the other day we were laughing over something that was said in German II thats now just become a years long inside joke. Ten years later and it still makes us smile. 
I’m sad that future generations will never get the gift of being your student and enjoy your smile and kindness. But that is made better by knowing the world now gets to see your bright light in the stars. You will be missed but never forgotten.

My heart is broken. Finding out you're gone was heart breaking. One of my most favorite teachers in high school! Had you for German my senior year(2014) . You will be missed by EVERYONE! I love you & going to miss you even more! 

I'm absolutely crushed to hear of your passing. The world is truly a colder place without your presence. You were my favorite teacher the entirety of my time at NCHS. I appreciated your kindness, patience, and mothering more than you ever knew, and I was always grateful for your hugs. You never gave up on me, and I'll never forget that. Though it's been years since I last saw you, I still think about you often. I thought I missed you before, but that's nothing compared to what I feel now.

You will be missed by many. You always brightened my day. I miss working with you and sharing family stories.
