Lamar and I worked together at Southern Tea for 30 years total
He was always in a good mood, laughing, especially at himself
He had a good sense of humor, very knowledgeable, and helpful. Just learned of his passing a few days ago. He will be missed very much! He always reminded me of my father even tho we are from the same generation.

Lamar and my father, Michael Dawes were best buddies until my father passed in 1992. Shanon and I also were friends growing up. Hey Shanon. Sorry for youre lost. Your dad and my dad are once again together, probably hunting and fishing. Prayers sent from myself amd my family

Mr. Hershel was a very good friend. Although myself and my wife Claudia only knew him for the last 5 years, we felt like he was family. He had a very good sense of humor and he loved his family very much. He even loved my old bulldog Zeus. My last memory was me and Hershel taking my restored boat out on a test run. We had a good time except for almost running out of gas and Hershel hat got blown off his head into the water. Lol .. we saved his hat and made it home. It is a memory that will stay with me for the rest of my life. Our hearts go out to the family and our prayers are with all who loved and knew him. May the Lord let the family find comfort in this great time of loss.

As the HR Manager at Southern Tea, Lamar was a frequent visitor to the office, typically just to say hello, show a picture of a hunting prize or just to make a smart remark to try to get a reaction. I know he will be sorely missed by the Maintenance staff and the other employees at Southern Tea. Rest in Peace, Lamar.
