James (Jim) Gordon Cox January 23, 1942 - November 9, 2020

With his family by his side and on the shore of Lake of the Woods, James Cox at 78 years old passed away peacefully on Monday, November 9, 2020. Left to cherish his memory is his son Darcy, daughter-in law Lisa and other family from Wisconsin and B.C.

Jim was predeceased by his father Frank, mother Lois, sister Joan and brother Cliff. Jim was born January 23, 1942 in Winnipeg. Throughout Jim's career endeavors, he has worked with people who were very special to him. His management position at Barber Ellis/Unisource was a joy for him and he made lifelong friends there. Jim enjoyed camping and fishing with family, golfing, beers at the club and reading the daily Winnipeg free press. Jim was a Kinsmen Club member and we were all very proud of his involvement with numerous charity/fund raising events such as SCAPPA and school skit nights, car auctions, and lotto draws, just to name a few. His humor and light mood were noticed by everyone he met, and was a pleasure for people to be around. Jim also enjoyed his yearly fishing trip with his son Darcy, trying to catch that “fish of a lifetime” and get into the 50” musky club. The Army Navy Air Force was very special to him and a place he made many great friends. His friend Ken and others from the Army Navy were a big help in him living his best last years while he was still in Winnipeg. Jim was easygoing and adapted very well when we asked him to move to Kenora in 2019 to be closer to us. The staff at Pinecrest quickly became an important and cherished part of his life, they made his last days as easy as they could have been.

In keeping with Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no Celebration of life. In lieu of donations in Jim’s memory, donations may be sent to Pinecrest Home for the Aged, 1220 Valley Drive, Kenora ON P9N2W7. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the staff at Pinecrest for their care and compassion.
