Joseph Raymond Skillen

March 21, 1969August 25, 2019

It is with profound sadness to announce the sudden passing of our brother, Uncle & son, Joseph Raymond Skillen, age 50.

Joseph will fondly be remembered by close family & friends as “Joey”, the boy with the perfect smile & beautiful blue eyes. Joey was one of four siblings, which he might say was no picnic considering they were all female, however we feel it is the reason for his softer side. Joey showed a great love for his sisters and later carried it on to his nieces & nephews.

After graduating high school, Joey decided to attend a Saskatchewan college to plan for a career in the Hospitality Industry. He eventually earned his Hospitality Management Diploma in 1989, but shortly after discovered his true passion was not behind the front desk of a hotel but rather a kitchen grill. Joey loved to cook!

After a few years of cooking at a variety of restaurants, Joey found his desired position as Kitchen Manager at Boston Pizza in Saskatoon, where he made many great friends.

Over the last few years, Joey had some struggles he was dealing with that he was working very hard to overcome. We loved him through every moment and our hearts are broken he was taken from us before he could figure things out.

Joey is survived by his Mother, Carol Jewell, Father & Step Mom, Ray & Sharon Skillen, Step Father, Garry Whitley (Kathy), Sister, Kathy Hunt, Sister, Kelly Ralko (Rob), Sister, Rae Anne Skillen (Brad). Nieces & nephews, (Bobbi, Mandy, Erick, Ashley, Jessica, Christina, Julia, Alicia, Samantha & Nick). Great nieces & nephews (Payton, Carter, Molly, Ryder, Paisley, Ayden & Jackson)

We love you brother! Gone but never forgotten!

A private family ceremony will be held at a later date.

May your spirit soar in freedom From the fears that gripped so tight. May you find the peace you searched for As you wandered lost at night.

May your tortured mind be clear and calm And your tender heart be warm. May you have no need for strength now. May there never be another storm.

May the music of the angels Be the sweet sounds that you hear. As you're rocked in Heaven's cradle May you never shed another tear.

I'll wear your memory proudly, My only brother...my true friend. May my love for you reach Heaven above Until we meet again.
