Alongside her husband, Joseph Pahpasay, she raised nine children while maintaining a traditional lifestyle on the trapline. This path required immense dedication and strength, as the family lived in harmony with the seasonal cycles—harvesting blueberries in the summer and engaging in the labor-intensive work of gathering wild rice.
Evelyn’s impact extended far beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. In her later years, she shared her work ethic and presence with the community through her service as a school janitor, providing a steady hand and quiet dedication to the next generation of students in Grassy Narrows. Her journey, from the rigors of the trapline to her role in the school, reflects a life characterized by family devotion, cultural endurance, and humble, hard-working service to her people.
