Peggy Geraldine Hutchins, 80, entered into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday (May 23, 2018) following an extended illness. Peggy was born on January 17, 1938 to the late Willie & Eliza (Smith) Mitchell in Kingsport, TN. Peggy married the love of her life, Ralph Hutchins on May 3, 1952 and after 66 years of a wonderful marriage and building a family, he survives.
Peggy worked as a meat wrapper in the family business. She loved traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Peggy was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend; she will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Shelby Jean Hutchins; son, Gary Hutchins; five sisters; and three brothers.
Left to cherish her memories are her beloved husband, Ralph Hutchins; daughter, Joyce Oaks & husband Carl; five grandchildren, Lori Tornquist & husband Mike, Melinda Crowe & husband Scott, Melissa Oaks, David Hutchins & wife Ronna, and Robbie Hutchins; 12 great-grandchildren, Caleb, Zachary, Tim, Jake, Brayden, Avery, Ty, Teah, Nneka, Devin, Colby, and Braxton; seven great-great grandchildren, Paisley, Hudson, Marley, Nora, Adrian, Cece, and Romy; two sisters, Juanita Cooke and Lena Davis; several nieces, nephews, and host of friends.
The family will greet guests and share memories on Friday (May 25, 2018) from 6 to 8 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home at 8 p.m with Brother David Dotson officiating.
Peggy will be laid to rest on Saturday (May 26, 2018) at 10 a.m. in the Garden of David at East Lawn Memorial Park. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
