o Birthday – 12/12/36 o Favorite Birthday – 12/12/12 o Favorite Day – Pi Day (3/14) o Passed Away – Pi Day 2017

Jo Ann was born on December 12, 1936 in Brownwood, TX to Fate and Jewel Collier. She grew up with two sisters, Delle Merritt and Jeri Michalk. She graduated from Copperas Cove High School and received Cum Laude status upon graduation from Howard Payne University with a degree in Mathematics.

First and foremost Jo Ann was a teacher - a teacher of math at Weslaco High School and a teacher of piano to anyone who wanted to learn. Ultimately, she became a teacher of computer software for Honeywell, where she met her great love, husband Dick Guillory. She continued on to Exxon where she served as a Senior Systems Analyst for Exxon Pipeline before branching out on her own as a contract programmer.

Jo Ann loved programming and the people she worked with. At the time of her passing, she was employed by Men’s Wearhouse, who were very accommodating, allowing Jo Ann to work from home while she recovered from a broken ankle.

Her passions were playing the piano and traveling. She often spoke of how she continued to work to pay for her travels. She continued to work remotely until only a couple of hours before she passed, and had been happily planning an upcoming trip to Prague.

She is survived by her sisters, Delle Merritt and Jeri Michalk, her children Steve, Monty, Dan, Patricia and Dale Free and James and Michelle Guillory, grandchildren Samantha, Kyle, Logan Free, Michael and Courtney Spiegel, Jennifer Free, Gryphen Free and Jana, Lauren, Vanessa, Sophia and Alexandra Guillory. She also had one great-grandchild Bobby Frye. She is also survived by her beloved rescue pit bull mix, F. Scott Fitzgerald. She was predeceased by her husband Dick Guillory and her beloved dog, Jinx. A casual reception will be held at Kingwood Funeral Home on Sunday, March 26th from 2-6PM, with a service in the chapel at 2:30PM. In lieu of flowers please donate to your local dog rescue organization in Jo Ann’s name.

Arrangements under the direction of Kingwood Funeral Home, Kingwood, TX.

She was a second mom to Willie during his teen years and a woman famous for her life motto, "I choose to be happy." I absolutely love when Willie tells me stories about Jo Ann and I'm so very glad she was a part of his life. She helped to make him the man he is today and the kids and I are the better for it. I'm so glad we were able to come to Kingwood today to pay our respects to her wonderful family and celebrate her life. We love you, Jo Ann!
