Tom was born September 6, 1946 in Argentia, Newfoundland, to Tom L. and Gwendolyn (Hahn) deGraffenried.
A longtime resident of Kingwood, Texas, Tom graduated from North Shore High School in 1965 and then attended the University of Texas in Austin. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. After completing his service to this country, Tom worked in the oil, gas and hydraulic industry, where after over 30 years, he retired from National Hose and Accessory.
He enjoyed sharing his time with family and friends. Hobbies were fishing, watching football, the Houston Astros but mostly he enjoyed spending time with all his grandkids. Tom was truly a friend to all he met and will be dearly missed.
Mr. deGraffenried is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 14 and a half years, Yvonne Rhame deGraffenried; son Tom Kelly deGraffenried and daughter-in-law Kristen; step daughters, Toni Wilkins and son-in-law Sean; Tifani Morgan; grandchildren Peyton and Jake deGraffenried, Victoria and Korbin Miller, Lennon and Lorelai Lemke, and Sara Konczal; and great grandchildren Hunter Rice and Kenzlee Coulter.
Mr. deGraffenried will be laid to rest in a private graveside service, for his family, on Thursday, January 18, 2024. A public Celebration of Tom's life will be held in the Spring of this year, at a date to be determined, at Crystal Beach.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in Tom’s memory to the American Heart Association or Wounded Warrior Project.
