Alan Thomas Younger

Alan Younger, age 69, of Knoxville, was called home Friday, June 1, 2018. He was a service technician at Greyhound Bus Lines and a fabricator with AmeriSteel. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp serving in the Vietnam War where he received the Purple Heart for his service duty. Alan was preceded in death by parents Lizzie Brown and Thomas Alan Younger and brother Lamar Younger. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 47 years, Valerie Younger; sons Carlos Younger and wife Letitia; Alan Younger, Jr., Michael Younger, and Joseph Younger; grandchildren: Jeremiah Hinton-Younger, Reanna and Kelan Alan Younger; sisters, Belinda and Camilla Younger; brother Cornelius Brown; sister-in-law, Pam Younger; nieces Belinda Gee, Knakia Nelson, Donna Younger, Ursula Anderson Sabo, and Katrina Anderson; nephews Voltaire Younger, Brian Henderson and Darryl Younger; and special friend Angie McMahan. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Amedysis Hospice and many other doctors and nurses who cared for Alan. Family will receive friends Friday, June 8, 2018 from 11:30 AM until 1:30 PM at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway. Family and friends will proceed from the funeral home to East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery for a 2:00 PM graveside service, Chaplain Clay Mulford officiating.
