Patsy Jean Vargo, age 91 of Madison, Alabama passed away on Monday, March 18, 2024. Patsy was born in Knoxville, Tennessee to James Frank Mase, Sr. and Macie Carter Mase. She was a 1950 graduate of Rule High School where she was Valedictorian and recipient of Art, English, History and National Honor Society awards. Patsy was a fashion artist for Miller's Department Store, a painter of fine art and taught art lessons. She was a member of Bell Avenue Baptist Church where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School. Patsy enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her toy poodles.
Preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Joseph James Vargo; sister, Shirley Fay Towe; brother-in-law, Donald Wayne Towe, Sr.; sister-in-law, Phyllis Mase.
She is survived by daughter, Carmen Lita Vargo-Moncier and her husband, James C. Moncier, III of Madison, Alabama; brothers John William Mase and James Frank Mase, Jr., his wife, Lenora Mase and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will meet at Tennessee Veterans Cemetery at Lyons View Pike on Monday, April 1, 2024 for a 1:00 PM graveside service with Reverend Charlie McNutt officiating. Arrangements by Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920.
