Roger Wayne Hollerud

Roger Wayne Hollerud passed away October 15, 2019, in Knoxville, TN, surrounded in love by his 3 daughters. Roger was born July 20, 1944 to Charles and Doris (Perkins) Hollerud. He was baptized the day he was born and celebrated his affirmation of baptism on May 31, 1959. He graduated from Lyle High School and started a career in banking where he met the love of his life and future bride. He entered the Army in July 1965 and was stationed at Ft Ritchie, MD, before arriving overseas in 1966. He was a member of the 1st Air Cavalry Division in Vietnam as a Communication Center Specialist in Company A of the Division’s 13th Signal Battalion. Roger was united in marriage to Elaine Luksik on February 16, 1974 at our Saviors Lutheran Church in Lyle, MN. While his work was in finance and banking, his passion was for helping all people and putting family first. He was involved with many civic and community organizations, especially those that involved his daughters activities and clubs, Church, and Lions Club International. Roger was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, The American Legion, and a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He would always find ways to give back to every community he lived in and visited. Roger enjoyed spending his time with his family, the “lake life”, fishing, playing cards, drinking coffee while visiting friends and dancing in the kitchen with his wife. Roger is survived by his three daughters Shawn Johnson (husband Scott) of Knoxville, TN, Kris Hollerud (Michael Yanak) of Las Vegas, NV, Jodi Hollerud (Mike Anderson) of St Louis Park, MN; grandchildren, Owen, Megan, Aidan, Linnea and Aaron; sisters-in-law, Lois Hollerud and Sharon Hollerud and brothers-in-law Rodger (Judy) Luksik and Norman (Dianne) Luksik; as well as many special people and friends he held close to his heart. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, wife Elaine Ruth Hollerud; brothers, Richard and Arthur, and parents, Charles and Doris. Services for Roger will be Sunday, October 20, 2019 at First English Lutheran Church, 17 Main Street NW, Menahga, MN 56464. Visitation will be 1:00pm - 2:00pm and service at 2:00pm with Pastor Jim Hallaway officiating. Urn bearers: daughters, Shawn, Kris, and Jodi; Honorary Urn Bearers: Gateway Lions Club. Roger's interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations should be made in Roger's honor to the Gateway Lions Club, 15545 Big Buck Drive, Menahga, MN 56464
