Gene worked at Delco for 30 years before retirement and was also a member of UAW Local 292. In June of 1982 he married Sharon in Chicago. After retirement Gene spent much of his time fishing, his favorite spot was Oak Dale Dam. He loved to be outside, and also enjoyed repairing trolling motors. Gene is the proud father of 5 children, all of whom have served our country.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Howard Community Hospital 2nd and 3rd floors and the emergency department and Northwoods Village and Specialty Hospital, and Drs. Reed and Hemelt for all their dedication and support.
Gene is survived by his wife Sharon; sister Ellie Dobbins; children, Michael, Jeffery (Lin), Chris (Susan) and Greg (Becky) Leonard and Missy (Tom) Reeder; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his sister, Ginnie Dowden and brother-in-law, Dave Dobbins.
Family will receive friends Monday, January 14 from 6-8pm at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, 2097 W. Alto Road, Kokomo, IN. Funeral service will be Tuesday, January 15 at 2pm at Family Worship Center, 1149 E. Center Road, Kokomo, IN.
