John D. Sullivan, Sr. surrendered his earthly body on Saturday, May 18th at Waterford Place. He was born September 30th, 1936 in Kokomo, Indiana to John "Louie" and Ruth "Pat" (Elliott) Sullivan. John married Pauline Louise Carter on October 23rd, 1955 in Greentown, Indiana.
John is survived by his daughter, Ruth Ann (Mark) Dupouy; granddaughter Stacy (Ross) Sullivan; great-grandsons Jaxon and Maxwell Sullivan; brothers Bob "John L." (Cooky) Sullivan and Bill (Patty) Sullivan. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
John is preceded in death by his parents; wife; children Rhonda Sullivan (stillborn) and Johnnie Sullivan; and brother Jack Sullivan.
He attended Kokomo High School. John worked for General Motors for 40 years, retiring as a benefit representative in 1995. He was an avid bowler, and nearly scored a perfect 300 in one of his many tournaments. John enjoyed fishing and golfing. He and his son-in-law had great stories to tell at all the family reunions. He felt his only granddaughter hung the moon and stars, and her family brought the sunshine into his world. Pappaw Moose loved watching them all play softball and baseball. John had a deep love for family and always looked forward to having their home overflowing with family for the annual reunions. He loved his Jefferson Manor family and the visits from his Temple Baptist family.
His family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Diana Pfeifer, St. Vincent Hospice, and Waterford place for their compassionate care of their loved one.
Friends and family may visit from 4:00 pm to 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 30th at Ellers Mortuary, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo, Indiana 46902. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 31st, also at the mortuary. Pastor, Dr. Jim Willoughby will officiate.
John will be laid to rest at Crown Point Cemetery following the funeral.
