Obituary of Veda Allagene Amos
Veda Allagene Amos, age 81, of Arcadia, Indiana passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023 at 10:45 P.M. at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital. She was born in Poughkeepsie, Arkansas to the late Arthur and Lena (Smith) Jarrett. Veda married Dwight Amos on June 4, 1960 in Kokomo. He preceded her in death on December 24, 2008. Veda was a life-long member of Courtland Avenue Church of Christ. She always looked forward to attending services when she was able. Veda enjoyed reading the bible and living a Godly life. Veda's pride and joy was her grand-daughter, Tarah. She and Tarah had an extraordinary relationship and loved each other dearly. She retired from Delco Electronics after 35 years of employment. She thoroughly enjoyed cooking and baking pies for family and friends and was at her best when she was serving others in this way. She enjoyed being everyone's "grandma". Veda was a strong woman with a big heart who loved people. Everyone will miss her infectious positivity and her laugh. She is survived by her two daughters, Karla Amos and Kelly (Russell) Hiatt; grandchildren, Tarah Amos, Hunter (Jayde) Hiatt, Haiden Hiatt, and Harrison Hiatt; great-granddaughter, Grace Hiatt; brother, Roscoe Jarrett; sister, Verena (Jim) Gragg; sisters-in-law, Carol Jackson and Bev Amos; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Dwight; sister, Oleta Campbell; and brother, Monroe Jarrett. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Special Blooms, Inc. - www.specialblooms.com There will be a time of visitation for Veda on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 P.M. at Ellers Mortuary Webster Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo. Minister Joshua Welch and Minister Kevin Kay will be officiating. Burial will follow at Kokomo Memorial Park.
