Mary Ellen Humphrey

Miss Humphrey, a native of LaGrange, was born January 22, 1947 and was the daughter of James C. and Frances Elnora Wright Humphrey. She dedicated her life to serving Jesus, as an ordained preacher, with her musical talents and with the love and cheerfulness only shown by a child of God. She was preceded to Heaven by her mother, Frances Elnora Humphrey.

She is survived by her father, James C. Humphrey, her brother and sister-in-law, James and Barbara Humphrey, nephew and niece, Jim and Whitnee Humphrey, niece and nephew, Le and Jeff Norred, niece and nephew, Paula and Ray Tarwater, Jr., niece, Rebecca Miller, several grand nieces and grand nephews, one great grand nephew. She is also survived by many very special brothers and sisters in Christ who have remained at her side and in her heart during the many years of her declining health.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel with Brother John Mays and Brother David Mays officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.

The family will be at the home of her father, James C. Humphrey, 107 Johnson Street, LaGrange, GA, and will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.

Flowers will be accepted or contribution may be made to Twin Fountain Nursing Home in her memory.
