I can't begin to tell how much I appreciate everything that Shirley has done for me. She accepted me unconditionally as a part of the family. I have always thought of her as a mother, not a mother in law. I will cherish all of the great memories and the example she set by putting others first. Mom, you are greatly missed everyday.

Mrs. Catlett (Shirley), thank you for your warm smile and generous heart. You were the mom of my childhood friend and someone I'll always remember. I think back fondly to the loving home you created. Thank you for making chocolate milk. Thank you for letting us play the organ in the livingroom. Thank you for moving your car so we could shoot hoops in the driveway. Thank you for letting us have sleep overs. Thank you for buying Donny Osmond albums.
Kelly and Tim – my heart goes out to you and your family during this difficult time of your loss. I have such fond memories of both of your parents and truly celebrate their lives in my heart!

Our family has missed Shirley in the time since we moved from Hounz Lane and we will continue to miss her in the days going forward. Gil and Shirley were kind and generous neighbors allowing us to put a swingset in their backyard for our daughter. We made a lot of fond memories there with them as we started our family. We still call her Ms. Shirdy because that is what our daughter called her when she was little. Shirley was one of the kindest and hardest working ladies that I have known. We wish our deepest sympathy to Tim, Kelly and the remainder of Shirley's family.
Sincerely, The Young Family - Matt, Heather, Ada and Drew

Kelly and Tim, I am so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. I have fond memories of growing up down the street from y'all on Hounz Lane and your mom was always so sweet when I would come over to hang out with Kelly. A very special lady who will be missed.

I have been so Blessed to of had such a wonderful Mother in Law. She accepted me and my 3 boys w/unconditional Love. Shirley always treated them as if they were her own. Our lives will have an emptiness w/out her. The thought of not being able to see her sweet smile and hear her sweet voice, not to mention the Hugs saddens me. I know Shirley would want All of Us to think of the Blessed times we had together. Our hearts may be heavy but those we Love are really never lost to us.I will miss You So Much. Until we meet again...I Love You Lynn

Just as when Dad passed the same is now true forever; my world will never be the same without my mother. I find comfort in knowing that her battle with cancer is over and for her, there is no more suffering but instead pure joy being in heaven with those who went before her. I think of all the years I witnessed her being so caring to everyone around her, and this was true until the very end - each day she would ask the nurses, doctors, and others that came into her room: "how are you doing today?" If you ever wondered if her inquiries were genuine, I assure you, each and every one came from her heart - she really cared how you were doing.

I will miss her. She exhibited a wonderful spirit of love in action.
May God bless her family during this time of separation.

I didn't know Mrs. Catlett, but I work with her daughter Kelly. Kelly has told to me several of her fond memories of her Mom to me. I remember her telling me of the many many friends that her Mom had throughout the years, and the many customers that always felt at home when they would visit her stores and deli. This is a very painful time for Kelly, and I would ask that you pray to give her and the family strenghth during this difficult time.

When my boys were younger, they always wanted to stop in at Ms. Shirley's candy store. She was always so patient with them as they would look over her candy display. Seemed like they would take forever. As my boys grew up, they still enjoyed stopping in and seeing Ms. Shirley. She is a LaGrange icon and will forever be one of those special people in my life that I will never forget.

Sad to hear of Shirley's passing, but good to know that she is no longer suffering. I will always remember those conversations at the counter when Shirley would ask "how is your Mom".....always thoughtful and caring. Thoughts and prayer to Tim, Kelly and all the family during this difficult time.
