Sheila Kay Miller Rather

She was the daughter of the late Laten and Betty Miller, was born on September 24, 1963 in Lake Charles. Sheila graduated from LaGrange High and attended Glad Tiding Church in Lake Charles for the last 20 years. She was employed by the CPSB for many years as an aide and worked at BCHS the last years until she was forced into medical disability. She loved her job, her students and her co-workers dearly. She was a loving wife, mother, MeMe, Sister, Sister In law, cousin, friend and Nanny to many.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, Gerald K. Rather; sons, Michael (Megan), Tyler (Emily) Rather and granddaughter Ava Grace; one sister, Pam M. Hymel (Wendell); two brothers, Lynn (Liz) and David (Janet) Miller all of Lake Charles; father in law, Bill Rather; sister in law, Sheila Rather both of Sulphur many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in which she loved dearly.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her mother in law, Marjorie Rather; brother in laws, Bill Walker and Doug Rather; sister in laws, Billie Rather, Brenda Martin.

Visitation will be at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and will resume at 8:00 am on Friday, January 11, 2019. Funeral services will be Friday, January 11, 2019 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest near her parents at Highland Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
