Joan was born in New York City in 1935 to Patrick and Gloria Haggerty. She married Lou Poumakis in 1955 in Babylon, Long Island. The family moved to California in 1966 and in 1974 they relocated to Florida. They enjoyed many moves over the years.
Joan loved the Lord and enjoyed dancing, music, and bowling. She loved to laugh and could light up the room. She will be remembered for her fierce loyalty to her children and grandchildren.
Joan is survived by her loving and dedicated husband, Lou, and her sister, Eileen Butler of Babylon, Long Island. She will be deeply missed by her son, Greg (Kathy) of Salem, New Hampshire, and daughter Michelle (Ed) Brill of Boynton Beach. Her grandchildren; Danielle (Micah) McCoy, Paul (Devin) Brill, Joel Brill, Amanda (Tim) Cestrone, Megan (Matt) Gaw, Dan Poumakis, and great grandchildren; Isaiah, Alicia, and Rebecca McCoy; Jace, Shea and Kaden Brill; Louis and Rose Cestrone; Cohen Gaw. Joan leaves behind cherished relatives and many wonderful friends.
Joan was preceded in death by her mother, father and brother, Michael Haggerty, and her beloved grandson, Owen Poumakis.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation for Joan on Saturday, May 26 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Dorsey-E. Earl Smith Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 3041 Kirk Road, Lake Worth, FL. A Memorial Service will follow at the funeral home at 3:00 PM.
