AUSTIN - Laurie Zeitz died after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease on October 17, 2021 at University Village Memory Care in Round Rock, TX. She was born August 27, 1929 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late Jack and Evelyn Wacherski Gavin.
Laurie graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Science degree and was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority. After graduating cum laude, she worked as a Food Technologist for William J. Stange Company in Chicago where she met her husband of fifty-three years, William H. Zeitz.
The couple raised three sons in Lincoln, NB; Northbrook IL and Richardson, Tx; William A. Zeitz of Newcastle, ME, Kurt P. Zeitz of Alpharetta, GA and David J. Zeitz of Austin, TX. In addition to her sons, Laurie is survived by her two brothers Don Gavin of Clarksville, TN, Reverend Craig E. Gavin of Centerton, AK, her two daughter-in-laws Lee Zeitz of Alpharetta, GA, Debbie Zeitz of Austin, TX and five grandchildren; A. Gavin Zeitz, Peter D. Zeitz, W. Forster Zeitz, Erica L. Zeitz, Chad J. French and several nieces and nephews.
Laurie loved traveling, cooking, home decorating and arts and crafts.
She is preceded in death by her husband William, her brother-in-law Fred O. Zeitz, his wife Janet and their daughter Juli.
