Yvonne Justice, affectionately known as "GiGi," a lover of human kind, anything including the number 9, breakfast, family, faith, a good bargain, hugs, the show Jeopardy, and a good old-fashioned belly laugh has virtuously winged her flight to the Abhá kingdom. She left this earthly life on July 7th, 2018 at the age of 90.
Her amount of giving was endless. Nothing was too much trouble, and there was always time.
On June 16, 1945 at the age of 17 she married the only boy she ever kissed and remained married to him until her death. They lovingly shook hands each anniversary with a simple promise, "I'll give you one more year." They made it to 73.
Her first day on the job at the Texas Press Association was July 7th, 1958. She earned numerous promotions, awards, and genuinely loved her work. She believed that, "Work is a form of worship. Being always truthful and making the effort to work up to your potential are attributes of God." She earned her nickname "Bookie" while serving the TPA for 34 years and considered the warm-hearted staff her second family.
After embracing the Bahá'í Faith in 1962, her faith, family, and work were intertwined. She was a tireless servant to all three, blessing anything and everyone who crossed her path, serving collectively for 50+ years on various Local Spiritual Assemblies for the Bahá'í Faith, including Austin, Cedar Park, and Travis County. The lessons she taught and lives she touched are countless and will forever leave this world changed for the better.
She was preceded in death by the lights of her life, two sons, Michael Justice and Steven Justice. Oh, how we rejoice their precious reunion.
She is survived by her beloved husband, William Foy Justice, Jr., two daughters-in-law, Wendy Justice and Karen Justice, three grand-daughters, Pam Gerik, Patti Justice, and Katie Justice, son-in-law Jeff Gerik, two great-grand daughters, Susan Kaiser and Michelle Jackson, two great-grandsons, Allan Gerik and Justice Gerik, one great-great granddaughter Samantha Baitch, two great-great grandsons, Jackson Campbell and Connor Kelley, and countless others who lovingly referred to her as their adoptive mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
The family invites all that knew and loved her to a graveside service on Wednesday, July 11th at 2pm, at Burnet Cemetery (1001 S. Rhomberg St, Burnet, TX 78611). In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her name to any charity of your choice, as giving was the very nature of her being.
