Elinor Anne Ficarra, 82, daughter of Edgar C. Parmelee and Adele G. Bishop Parmelee, passed away peacefully July 16, 2018 at Kindred Hospital in Melbourne, FL. Elinor was born and raised in Jersey City, NJ. She married and made her home in Bergenfield, NJ where she raised her family. She then relocated to the Lake Ridge section of Toms River, NJ from 1996 to 2015, and finally settled in Melbourne, FL in 2015. Elinor was a retired school secretary having worked 27 years for the Bergenfield, NJ Public Schools Board of Education. Additionally, she served as President of the Bergenfield Ladies of UNICO, was a member of the Red Hats, Lake Ridge Italian Cultural Club, and Lake Ridge Women’s Club. She was a volunteer at HOPE Center. She was devoted to St. Luke’s Parish in Toms River, NJ where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. Predeceased by her parents and sister, Jean R. Parmelee Tompsen, she was the wife of the late Anthony N. Ficarra. Elinor is survived by her children, Teresa Ryan and her husband Michael, Tina Pertot and her husband George, and Thomas DeSiena and his wife Kimberly; two step-children, Christine Lyons and her husband James and Bernadette Morello and her husband James; her grandchildren, Elyse Pertot and her husband James Ell, Rachel Souza and her husband Cameron, Katie Pertot, and Michael DeSiena; her step-grandchildren, Everett and Emerson Lyons, and Michele Sharpe; her great-grandchildren, Sydney and Hayley Pertot; a nephew, Bruce Tompsen and his son Andrew; as well as other relatives and friends. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, 2018, at the D’Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Avenue, Lakewood, NJ 08701. Her funeral mass will be celebrated 9:15 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2018, in St. Luke’s Church, 1674 Old Freehold Road, Toms River, NJ 08755.
Entombment will follow in St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery Mausoleum, Lakewood, NJ.
